STE S.A. – TTP – 400 kV Transmission System Backbone

The Temane Transmission Project (TTP) is Phase 1 of Mozambique's strategic Tete–Maputo transmission backbone and a core component of the wider Temane Regional Electricity Project (TREP). The project was implemented by Sociedade Nacional de Transporte de Energia, S.A. (STE), a wholly owned subsidiary of Electricidade de Moçambique E.P (EDM).
Prior to founding EnergyBridge Group (EBG), members of EBG's current leadership team held senior project, technical, construction and sustainability roles within STE and contributed to the project across its lifecycle, from feasibility, development and financing through procurement, construction, commissioning and operational handover.
The TTP infrastructure comprises:
- 563 km of 400 kV single-circuit transmission line
- 2 × 25 km of 400 kV double-circuit transmission line
- Four new 400 kV substations: Pambara, Chibuto, Matalane and Maputo
The transmission system enables evacuation of power from the 450 MW Central Térmica de Temane (CTT) Independent Power Project (IPP) and establishes strategic backbone capacity for future large-scale gas, hydro and renewable generation projects in Mozambique.
Complementary grid reinforcement development works included:
- 28 km, 110 kV Pambara–Temane transmission line extension
- 60 km, 275 kV Dzimbene–Chibuto transmission line extension
